"Daylight Savings"

 Lately, I have been staying up until the sun rises and sleeping in til noon.  My guilty pleasure. But for some reason all my best ideas happen between the hours of 3 and 5 am. As a result, day light savings hit me extra hard this year especially during morning engagements. In response, I produced this piece. An early commuter walks forward into the oppressing morning light. A starry sky at his heals making up his shadow reminding the viewer that the night isn't long forgotten.

Acrylic, Water color. I added a few more monkeys to fill out the composition. I played up the contrast between the two scenes to further push the separation of environment. I really enjoy the balance of warm and cool colors. 

Finish (top) and Sketch for a self promotional piece. I have been toying with repetition and graphic shapes as a model to build compositions. I have been doing a lot of sketches via photoshop. I love how quickly you can put together ideas and mess with sizing and placement.
